How to Create A Gorgeous Jar Candle Using Sticky Roll And Glitter

Learn how to decorate a gorgeous Jar Candle with die-cuts using Sticky Roll and glitter.

Who doesn’t love a good jar candle, it makes us feel like we’re bringing a little bit luxury into our home and ticking a small self-care box by being able to relax and enjoy a favourite aroma, and they’re also really easy to decorate and personalize!

I wanted to keep this one quite quick and simple so that most crafters could have a go with the supplies they already have.

You will need

A jar candle, Sticky Roll, an alphabet die-set and a small heart die.

Two colours of glitter - preferably ultra-fine.

A Glitter Brush or other inexpensive brush, not your nice posh blending brush!

A craft knife or pin and some scrap paper.

So here we go....

Step 1 – Make your own double sided adhesive sheet

Cut off a length of Sticky Roll and fold it in half so that the liner is on both sides.

I find that the easiest way to do this is start folding it together from the closed end to the open end.

Don’t worry if you don’t get it perfectly lined up, just cut those bits off and squeeze out any air bubbles by giving it a good burnish.

Step 2 – Die cut your letters

Lay out your dies on your plates, pop the Sticky Roll Sheet you just made over the top and run them through your machine.

Step 3 – Get your letters ready!

Poke out your letters and remove the liner from the back of the letters with either a craft knife or a pin.
This is a little bit trickier to do than when the Sticky Roll is on card so just take your time and you’ll crack it!

Step 4 – Apply your letters and hearts

Place your letters down on to the jar and burnish gently.
(I have found that some candle jars have a waxy residue on the outside of the glass, if the letters don’t seem to be sticking very well then this is probably the cause, I use alcohol wipes or water with some vinegar in to clean this off)

Once you’ve done this remove the liner from the letters, but keep the liner on the hearts.

Step 5 – Lets get glittering!

Pour your first colour of glitter over the letters, pat the glitter down with your finger, and then rub the glitter over the letters in circular motions.

Brush of any excess glitter.

(Please excuse the blur of the brush, I had a little helper for this part!)

Step 6 – More glitter!

Remove the liner from the hearts and add another colour of glitter over the top, pat the glitter down with your finger, then rub the glitter in to the hearts.
And give it a good brush to get rid of any excess.

And…. Ta Da!!
